Angie J's Review:

HOLY HELL!!!!!  I am a Vampire Paranormal lover.  I follow and auto buy 3 vampire series....the series of Varick is beyond descriptive words.  Varick is told in 2 parts.  Varick the Reluctant is a sad, dark, gritty tale about revenge, loss and loneliness.  Varick is turned into a monster and forced to kill a very important person in his life by his ruthless and cold sire, Luther.  You learn through flashbacks how Varick escapes Luther and how he survives until present, modern time.  He lives by a different code then all other vampires.  One day he meets a woman who is ready to kill herself so he makes her a deal to be her "Angel of Death" while allowing himself life with her blood.  Well holy hawt sex and he changes him mind.  Aliesha isn't very happy when she discovers Varick has turned her and she can NEVER DIE...yeah alot of vampire myths don't exist in this series which is cool.  Book 1 ends with Luther finding Varick and making Aliesha pay for his "crimes".

Book 2 is Varick the Reckoning.  WOW did this book change pace and change super fast.  Aliesha returns and is not the happy go lucky girl Varick turned.  She is a pure vampiress and is out for blood...Varick's blood to make him pay for what happened to her.  Well huge twist later (sorry but I was like WHAT!!!  I was immediately PMing Red about it) and vengeance was his!!!!!  Well there is an amazing twist in the book and Varick gets a super "special" ability....wanna know...THEN READ THE DAMN BOOK!

Interview with the Author:

Hello Red and thanks for answering a few questions for our readers. I will ask a few “tough questions” (Giggling because saying me asking tough questions are just sooo ridiculous) and then ask a few silly ones…READY????

Ok so the first question is WILL THERE BE MORE VARICK!!??  The first book, Varick the Reluctant, was very dark and I was drawn to the darkness of it.  It was intense, gritty and I loved every part of it.  The second book, Varick the Reckoning, was “upbeat” if that is the correct way to describe it. I loved the twist you gave Varick and how it is so different from ANY vampire series I have ever read.

Yes, there will be more Varick. Originally, I anticipated only two novelettes Part one & two. But as the second one drew to a close, I realized his story was not complete and he was asking me to write another. I agreed, after all, this vamp has been in my dreams since I was a teenager – it’s the least I could do.

Compared to all your other novels, I don’t think you have written anything so dark.  When you were writing about Kevin’s family in the 9 Days Series, you discussed abuse.  The topic of abuse can be very dark but Varick was way more intense.  Why do you think that is so?

Varick’s story is my way of dealing with several tragedies in my past. Vampires are not just mythical creatures to me; they represent everything cruel, unfair, and terrible in the world. Just like Varick, we are forced to survive such tragedies. Either you knuckle under or your triumph over adversity.

Brie and Sir are having fun “after graduation”.  Do you think there will be more Brie and Sir even when this book is completed?  (I don’t think your readers are ready to let them go. )

We shall see… I am anticipating 8 novelettes to complete the next season of Brie’s life. I will leave it up to the characters if I am meant to continue their story after that. Can you imagine a baby Sir? ;)

Silly question time…here we go

Ok so what celebrity would you have picked to play Brie and Sir in a rated NC-17 movie because let’s be honest rates R wouldn’t cut it!!!!  If you don’t have a name do you have a picture…….

Okay, I am not sure he has the right “look” but I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers

who played Henry the 8th in The Tudors on HBO. He was so freakin’ hot and sexy in that wicked role. I totally want to see him dominate! But what do I see Sir looking like? Well, here’s the pic. I don’t know his name but that is my man.

But Brie… I just don’t know. She would be hard for me to cast. A little too close to home for me to be objective.

When you are writing do you plot out your chapters or are you fly at the seat of your pants?

I have an overall plan, but I let the characters guide me on how we get there. Twists and turns come that even I am not anticipating. It is as if I am weaving a tapestry that I won’t know the pattern of until I am finished. I know the beginning point and the ending point, but the rest is up to the characters.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure when you are doing something for yourself? (Mind out of the gutter people I am a hard hitting journalist!!)   For me, I love to get my nail done.  It is my twice monthly guilty expenditure besides by book buying.

Well, I went straight where you told me not to. Sorry! That’s my answer and I’m sticking to it.

Thank you so very much for taking time away from Brie and Sir to answer a few questions for the blog.  We love your books and can’t wait to buy and read more!!!

Angie, let me just say that I value you on so many levels. You came across Blissful and have been an enthusiastic and supportive friend since. Thank you, thank you! Your fan, Red

I am a happily married woman who believes (based on personal experience) that love conquers all. It is a running theme in my writing.

One thing you will notice about my work, I'm all about variety. If a character beseeches me to write his/her story, I willingly give myself over no matter the genre or subject ~ as long as it includes hot, steamy sex. ;)
