Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Blurb:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Jo-Anna's Review:

I've been in Mexico all week and I brought 2 books with me. I know what you're thinking, 2 books are definitely not enough. Well I started with Obsidian and now just finished Onyx and honestly, a part of me was super excited to go home so I could buy the next book cause I am dying to find out what happens next! This books was amazing! Like the others, I just loved it!! It had some hot intense passion again between Katy and Daemon AND it had some "can I trust this person" moments also. Me being the type of reader who likes to guess what's going to happen, was very excited when I guessed that a certain character was not trust worthy and I was right! I love it when I'm right.

Quotes:

- “I could always give you a teaser. You bookish people love teasers, don't you?"

- “I always liked you. From the moment you first flipped me off.”

- “Say it."
"Say what?"
"Tell me what you told me earlier."
"I love you."
"That's all I ever need to hear."
"Those three words?"
"Always those three words.”

- “If there is anything, there is us.
You and me. No one else.”

- “Not in this lifetime, buddy,” I said finally.
“Resistance is futile, Kitten.”
“So is your charm.”
“We’ll see.”

- “Oh holy alien babies everywhere!”

- “Cookie?" he offered, holding a cookie full of chocolate chips.
Upset tummy or not, there was no way I could refuse that. "Sure."
His lips tipped up one side and he leaned toward me, his mouth inches from mine. "Come and get it."
Come and get...? Daemon placed half the cookie between those full, totally kissable lips.
Oh, holy alien babies everywhere...”

Honey Red Blog Tour with Liz Crowe

Honey Red
Book Blurb:
Nick Traynor and Ian Donovan spend a lot of time and effort keeping it very hot, only physical, and purely superficial. But when their resolve starts to slip, a woman is tossed into their midst.

Hannah Williams wants nothing more than to do her job until something better comes along, but is forced to own up to her visceral reaction to Ian, her new boss, and later to Nick, his sometimes lover.

Lust has a funny way of turning into companionship, and eventually evolving into a deeper connection. Faced with the internal and external complications of their potential three-way relationship, they begin to heal and trust, to consider that it might work. Then life tosses them a hardball, forcing them back into their respective corners, where each must choose what is most important.

Three people determined not to commit, thrown together by fate and undeniable attraction--their nights heat up and emotions run high in spite of a claimed mutual desire to "keep it simple." In the process of honest self-discovery, can they learn that while love is never simple, it is definitely worth fighting for?

The following book clip is rated NC-17!!!

“Hey,” she said, smiling and scratching the seeing-eye dog between the ears. She looked up, letting her gaze take in the full Marine dress uniform of the man attached to the animal. The crisp, formal clothes seemed to hang on him, even though he was fit, but it was obvious at one time he had been even bigger. His classical, masculine V-shape was breathtaking. His shoulders were broad but not bulky, his jaw firm, clean and the rest of his face at that moment showed stress that marred its model-like perfection. His golden yellow hair was thick, and touched the color of the uniform jacket. She bit her lip and dispelled the sudden erotic loop of imagery—Ian and this man, together. “Hi,” she said, holding out a hand. “I’m Hannah.”

His face turned to hers, and his smile was so incredibly sexy and innocent at the same time her heart started pounding. He held onto her a few seconds longer than was polite. She tugged but he wouldn’t let her go. “I hear your heart,” he said, quietly.

“Oh, wow, that’s…um, cool.” She had no idea what to do with her arms, hands, or heartbeat. Jamie was all over the dog and Brutus was panting and wagging his tail like mad. The party flowed around them, getting louder by the minute. Suddenly, Hannah wanted to be alone. Or more precisely she wanted to be alone with the man in front of her. He wore his emotional pain like a medal on his uniform. And something about him compelled her to want to help—or possibly it was because Ian still loved him.  Wow. This could get messy.  She squared her shoulder and decided to stick with usually worked best for—brutally direct. “You must be Nick.”

His grin faded slightly. “Yeah, I guess I am the only blind ex-Marine with a dog date here, huh?”

She leaned into him, determined to keep to the path of directness. “It’s okay. I know about you and Ian”

He stiffened. “Really. Well, tell me something then, Hannah.”  He put his lips near her ear. The overwhelming compulsion to put hands on him made her knees wobbly. She gripped the chair back. The party noises kept ramping up. But she barely heard them, too mesmerized by Nick’s face, voice, and the warm hand in the small of her back. “Tell me what you think you know about me. And Ian.” His lips tickled, making her break out in goose bumps. She turned her head, saw Ian, caught his eye. And it gave her strength.

“I know he loves you.” She said, then took Jamie’s hand and was about to lead him away before she said or did anything she couldn’t take back with the sad-faced, ridiculously handsome blind man in the Marine uniform.

But Nick gripped her arm lighting a small fire on her skin. The dog snuffled around her leg, whining as if sensing his master’s distress. “The hell you say.” He said, his jaw tight. “Besides, he has the smell of you all over him right now. I don’t know if it’s your perfume or shampoo or what, but you smell like rich, sweet honey. And I can tell he’s been dipping into it—into you. Not that I blame him.”

“I don’t wear perfume and use unscented shampoo.” Her knees shook at his innocuous yet sexy words.  She ran a fingertip down his face, unable to resist.

“Don’t,” he flinched away. “I’m not interested in your type.” But his low voice said otherwise.

Angie J's review:
I was given this book as an ARC but the author for a true and honest review of the novel.

To begin with I must say 5 stars are not even enough. This is one of my favorite books by this author. I love the way she builds each relationship so that you can actually feel their love (even when they don't want to admit they are in love) and it makes you believe their relationships. Ian is such a mess and very selfish, Nick is so damaged and hurt and Hannah is so open and naive. The 3 of them have some very hot and steamy scenes as a pair or as a 3some. If you have read ANY of Liz's books you know she can write some hot scenes and this book doesn't disappoint.

For me the most amazing part of the book was the EPILOGUE!!! OMG the dog tags......sigh....Epilogues are always epic with Liz. (The beer label holds some secrets so be sure to study it well.) I also loved the fact the each character is very well written and each character has been developed. I felt that the secondary characters like Gavin, Ian's twin brother, and Alyssa, Nick's sister and future wife of Gavin, had great purpose in the novel. They made sure to "poke their noses in" when it was important for the story line. Another aspect of this book I loved was the theme of family. All the characters in the novel want family and grab on to it or push it away when they feel they should. The family dynamic was a very big underlying theme and I seem to find that with a lot of Liz's novels.

So now I need to know why are you still reading this review? You should be running to download it because the book is one of the best stories I have read by one of the most amazing authors I have read.

Interview with Amazing Author Liz Crowe:

Twinsie Talk Q:      WOW!!! Honey Red knocked me out. However, I love your writing and I knew it would.  You have a knack for writing amazing Ménage love stories.  Before you were writing, did you enjoy reading them OR did you just jump in head first and write one?

Liz A : Ok, brutal honesty time: I have only read a few ménage like stories and have not enjoyed THAT many of them.  Because I like to try and keep things as real as possible in all of my books I explore the inherent “fantasy” element of any ménage concept. Truly, humans are hardwired for possessiveness and jealousy and this sort of arrangement just doesn’t work for most/many real humans. I’m not saying it won’t or can’t just that it is so rare as to be like the elusive unicorn in many cases.

My first meange book was Vegas Miracle and got a lot of folks angry because it has at its core a taboo subject in the “romance” genre: a marital infidelity.  I knew this going into it, of course and was not expecting any less. However, back to the “real life” nature of the books I enjoy reading and writing, I explore how forgiveness is essential in any marriage, and, like it or not, infidelities are something that many married couples deal with at some point in their relationship. And sometimes, a marriage can be salvaged, I just let my characters in that particular book form a pretty awesome threesome by the end.

Honey Red on the other hand is more about 3 wounded souls finding themselves surprised by their reactions to each other, in quick succession after declaring themselves in in “for the sex only.

Twinsie Talk Q:       The next book releasing for you is part of the Stewart Realty series about Evan and Julie.  What do you think the readers will be surprised to find out about this couple?

Liz A: How very dark their backgrounds are and how deep their wounds go.  Both of these people bring some serious baggage to their relationship table. I really enjoyed going into “deep point of view” with them both, exploring how they came to be where they are, both by very surprising roundabout routes only to meet, resist, come together, learn to trust and be tested many times by their own tendencies to avoid a deeper emotional relationship. It may sound like Jack and Sara but it is definitely not—while those 2 certainly spent some time figuring out what they wanted from each other, Evan and Julie spend more energy figuring out what then need from themselves first. It’s a hot one, with Evan’s journey to “Master Dom” peppered with some very amazing stints as a sub to some powerful women. But ultimately I think readers will be surprised to find out how much they enjoy a story with as many layers as this one will contain.

Twinsie Talk  Q:   Which do you prefer?  Writing the continued family saga of Jack or stand alones?
Liz A: Both really. Of course the “Jack saga” will end in 2013 when I release Good Faith in the fall. It’s gonna involve the loss of a major character.
The Black Jack Gentlemen series will be a ton of fun too though, with a whole fresh set of characters to love (and hate).
Twinsie Talk Q:      When I read one of your books I know I will be completely submerged into your world.  I feel every emotion the characters feel and have even slammed my nook shut to spew out cuss words or sobbed through an entire box of tissue!  I know when I read Essence of Time, I talked to you after I finished. You said you missed a certain character (don’t want to spoil anything) so my question is this, do you feel as we the readers do during your writing sessions?  Meaning are you sobbing uncontrollable and screaming at your characters as well???
Liz A: I’m a reader too so I can relate to connecting in a deep way with characters, unwilling to let them go when the book ends (although that does not happen to me much due to my innate cynicism. If an author can make ME feel that strongly that is a rare book). But as a writer (at least for me) it’s a much different process and experience. I have had a few sad/surprise endings in my books, Essence of Time as well as Paradise Hops. I get emotionally invested in my characters but when I suss out a tough ending or Hans the hot German muse holding my beer reveals it to me while I’m doing something else like in the grocery (where I stopped dead in my tracks on a busy weekend and got cussed out by a few shoppers when I realized how to “solve” Lori’s man dilemma in Paradise Hops) I go with it, gut it out, and may shed a tear (I surely did over Essence of Time I assure you) but at the end I feel triumphant because I have hopefully crafted a story and a character that will have the EXACT effect you are talking about.
Random Silly questions:
Twinsie Talk Q:    What’s your favorite Tap room beer?  (I can say for ME I enjoyed the Premium Lager.)
Liz A: No contest: Gulo Gulo the India Pale Lager (I’m a hop head). Glad to hear you enjoyed the Premium Lager! It is the beer that pays the light bills as they say.
Twinsie Talk Q:       If you could pick the book that would be your very first NYT Best Sellers List, which book would you want it to be….and you can pick any book you have done or are thinking about writing.
Liz A: Paradise Hops followed by Mutual Release which will be followed by In His Shadow a non erotic, first person “memoir-like” book about a woman obsessed by and ultimately nearly destroyed by a man posing as a “Dom” but who is merely a smart, manipulating abuser.
Then a sort of dystopian political thriller/fantasy I’m pondering called Precious Vessel that will explore how women of a certain class level become infertile and end up being manipulated by a “fertility czar” in order to make sure the “lower classes” don’t take over America.
Twinsie Talk Q:      Of all the females in your books, who do you feel you identify best with and least with?
Liz A: Best: it’s a tie between Julie (upcoming Mutual Release) and Sara. Yes, I said Sara and I know many readers have been aggravated and even hate her but she is probably the most autobiographical character I’ve written (until I wrote about Julie). But it’s more about personalities less about actual events in my/their lives.
Least: um….well, there is a bit of me in all my females I think so I guess Victoria, the evil crazy wife from Cheeky Blonde!
Twinsie Talk Q:    What is your favorite sport : Soccer Or Football?  I ask this because you write a lot about soccer but with the Tap Room and the university being down the road you are doing a lot of tailgating.
Liz A: It’s a tie, frankly. I love them both! (but I love basketball too!)
But I do pay extra for all the cable soccer channels….I think those dudes are the most fit of them all!
Twinsie Talk Q:        Last question is a multiple kind of question….here goes…..I am going to ask you about a character from ANY of your books.  I would like you to tell us what actor(s) you want cast in the rolls for when Hollywood realizes your books need to be made into movies……..
Jack and Sara from the Realty Series?
Jon Hamm and January Jones
Andreas from the Turkish Delights series? Sakis Rouvas (look him up!)
Sean Garrison from Cheeky Blonde?  Bradley Cooper
Nick, Ian and Hannah from Honey Red?
Nick: Channing Tatum
Hannah: Emma Stone
Ian: Josh Lucas
THANK YOU Liz for stopping by and answering some fun and serious questions for us.  We are still FLOORED by your comment about  the loss of a main character.  You have us in a tail spin.......but then why am I shocked?  Your books always put me in one!!!  Thanks for allowing us to promote your books and series.  You are truly an amazing author and person!!  We wish you the very best!

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Blurb:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Jo-Anna's Review:

After I finished the prequel/novella, Shadows, I couldn't wait to jump into this book. I have never been more in love with aliens. Daemon is definitely swoon worthy and the witty humor of Katy is hilarious! The intense passion between them is HOT and also frustrating at times. Katy ends up being forced to stick by Daemon because of some alien mojo which would totally be fine in my books if you ask me.

Book Quotes:

- “Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.”
- "My palms itched to have a close encounter of the bitch-slap kind with his face.”
- “Why are you such an ass?" The words came out before I could think twice.
"Everyone has to excel at something, right?"
"Well, you're doing a great job.”
- “I've always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect." His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. "The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It's just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”

- “Remind me," he paused, drawing in a stuttered gasp, "to never piss you off again. Christ, are you secretly a ninja?”

Angie J's Review:

I am speechless (and peps that doesn't happen much).  This book was A-MAZ-ING!!  It was a mix of historical fiction, erotica, and paranormal.  Now how can all that be used in a novel you ask?  I dunno either but Red makes it work.

So I will admit that I am a ginormous fan of Red Phoenix.  I haven't read anything of hers that I don't like.  I love that she mixes it up with her writing.  She writes typical erotica, paranormal and BDSM.  I think it is great that an author would want to not limit themselves to a particular genera.

This book is a quick read but well worth any price tag listed.  Ryce is such a great brooding alpha male who is NOT looking for any one women to commit too.  He had that once and she has dies brutally due to his "secrets"...cant wait to learn more about his "secrets" in the next installments of this series.  When Ryce is traveling, he comes across a funeral. He decides to pays his respects and wasbasically given this raga-muffin named Chrisselle.  She has no one left and basically the town says "TAKE HER".  He does begrudgingly  and is bound and determined to marry her off.  (Getting rid of her is his plan before she realizes his "secrets")  WELLLLLLL, it doesn't exactly go that way for Ryce.  It seems little Miss Chrisselle is kinda taken by her Master's interesting sexual habits with the other ladies in town ;)  Soooooo they come up with a plan to help Chrisselle discover what is under the kilt of his......wowzers was she happy pet!!!  Any who there is a lot of drama at the end and I cannot begin to discuss because it will spoil the ending for you.  I will say that I did have some tears falling at the end.  Are they happy?  Are they sad?  HRMMMM, guess you just gotta read and discover.

I cannot wait to read more of this great series in the Fall of 2013.

Guest Posting from Red Phoenix:

Thank you Red Phoenix for posting on our blog.  We have loved everyone of your books that we have read!!!  We feel truly honored you are chatting with us about your process for this book and your new Brie news!!!

The Unusual Story Behind His Scottish Pet: Dom of the Ages
My hubby has been quite pleased with the success of the Brie series, however, he had an idea of his own he wanted me to explore. An ongoing story told from the point of view of a unique Dom - an alpha male with an unusual curse...
It only took his whisper in my ear to get the wheels turning. After I finished the last story of Brie’s submissive training in October, I embarked on Ryce Leon’s tale. Some of the parameters given were that the main character had to be a BDSM Dominant, the story needed to be an historical piece, and Leon must suffer a curse some might consider a gift.
My husband gave me free rein on where and when the first story took place. Personally, I am a woman who melts for a man in a kilt (and not much else), so I jumped into 15th century Scotland. I gleefully dove into the native ‘tongue’ with a kilt wearing Englishman. Ryce Leon is a man with great heart, strong sexual desires, and a tragic past which gradually unfolds.
Since His Scottish Pet’s publication (paperback coming soon), my husband has received praises from my fans. They love the male perspective, the immediate jump into BDSM action, the romantic escape into another time. It has received rave reviews, making me quite thrilled I heeded my husband’s challenge.
Currently, I am working on the next season of Brie Bennett’s journey which is due to begin January 31st. Brie is about to experience life outside the training center with her new Master. Oh, the tasks and delights ahead!

His and Hers and Hers by Nona Raines

Book Blurb:

Kyla Denster and Jordan Brougham are passionately in love. Kyla knows she's lucky to have a guy who uses all his tricks to keep her happy in and out of bed. Jordan knows he's lucky to have such a hot, adventurous girlfriend.

But neither of them knows that their best friend, Cassie DeSantis, wants them both. Cassie's painful past has taught her not to wear her heart on her sleeve. She keeps quiet, afraid that revealing her feelings would mean losing the two people she cares for most. Things change one night when an impulsive kiss leads to the three of them spending an incredibly hot night together.

When the couple wants more of Cassie, she leaps at the chance to be with them. But problems arise at her insistence that no one mention the L word and when Jordan and Kyla clash over how to deal with disapproving family. Their triad relationship will only survive if they all stand together to prove that three is the perfect number—when all three are in love.

Reader advisory: contains scenes of female/female sexual interaction.

Jo-Anna's Review:

If you want a hot, steamy, spicey little read, then get this book. A story that's filled with passion, lust, desire, and *dreamy sigh* love, is every girls romantic fantasy come true. Jordan, Kyla and Cassie have a relationship and love for eachother that would make any romantic junky swoon. This is my first M/F/F menage type book and I enjoyed it and I am also thankful that I got a chance to read it. Great job to the author and I have definitely added her other books to my TBR list.

About the author:

Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.

Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author.

Finless by Davee Jones

Book Blurb:

Sarah, Nathaniel, and Lily resist unconditional love as they feed primal desires. Not believing the possibility of having it all, they struggle to believe that they, the “least of these”, rightfully deserve a lifetime of love and happiness-- Especially with how graphically and unconventionally they choose to express themselves.

Each of the characters comes to realize how tortured their lives have become. Violent images, dreams, and actions occur as they spiral downward into their dark lives. As they each reach a personal impasse, they must decide how they will make their lives better. In the process, they must also mend broken intimate relationships with the ones they love.

This erotic, edgy tale describes and embraces elements of s/M lifestyle. Their personal proclivities are not condemned.

If a fish does not have fins, it becomes lifeless and sinks helplessly to the bottom of the water.

Humans are exactly the same way.

Jo-Anna's Review:

Sarah and Nathaniel's relationship is hot, intense and undeniably spicey! It was interesting to see how the interaction between characters played out. I'd have to say that the last chapter and the epilogue of this book were my favorite parts. When reading this story, you think you know who's going to end up together but then the characters end up with different HEA's. I actually liked that idea and thought it turned out really well. :)

Finless WARNING Explicit Excerpt:

Nathaniel prepared his office for any encounters he might have. It actually gave him a rush to dominate a woman sexually in his workplace. He could return to these moments during a future boring day and bring back the exhilaration of the encounter. He kept a locked drawer of paraphernalia which would put most ordinary sexual junkies to shame. Nathaniel took a soft suede flogger out of his sex drawer and began swiping it along Sarah’s back and buttocks. He meant the motions to tickle, yet Sarah knew better than to move no matter how much her muscles wanted to twitch in tactile frustration.

Nathaniel put the soft flogger aside and began stroking Sarah lightly with a wire brush. As he made his way down her shoulders to the curves of her taut ass, he became harder with the stroke. Red streaks began to form all along her shoulder blades and spine. Sarah could not help the involuntary shiver of her entire body. Nathaniel obliged her with a soft kiss to her cheek as he took in the smell of her freshly washed hair.

Nathaniel put the wire brush down and he grabbed a black leather-riding crop. He used the leather tongue of the crop to brush Sarah’s long hair away from the center of her back and slid the tongue along her shoulder blades. As he made his way down to the center of her back, he pulled the crop and smacked her soundly across the small of her back. Sarah barely winced and his touch intoxicated her to the point of dizziness.

Nathaniel methodically smacked his way down her buttocks, to her quivering thighs and back up to her tanned shoulder blades. Red welts immediately formed on the skin of the back of her body. Delicious bruises would surely follow by the next day.

Finally, when he could contain his passion no longer, he pulled her hands from behind her back and gruffly spun her around to face him. He grabbed her with each of his hands by the hair hanging at the sides of her face and forced her face to his for a deep kiss. He twirled her long hair around his fingers as he kept her in close and continued kissing her and drawing her lips in to bite their lusciousness.

Tipsy by what was happening, Sarah could not stop the freight train of passion flooding her every movement. “Fuck me” she coarsely whispered into Nathaniel’s face. She wanted to come, but her fervency told her to wait, although she would not wait patiently. He turned her around, pushed her down onto the floor and ripped away the $200 La Perla panties only seconds before thrusting his rock-hard cock into her pulsing pussy. “Don’t wear panties again. Oh…my...” All he could utter over and over for the next few seconds as he thrust his cock into the wonderland of her tight pussy. Normally he could control his climax, but this time he could not. He filled her full with his deep discharge as he uttered a sigh of heavy relief.

Reveling in the afterglow of his orgasm for few minutes, he snapped back to reality and knew where he was, and coldly moved away from Sarah. Lying on the floor beside him, Sarah’s chest heaved, gasping in deep breaths from the exchange they just had. Sarah rolled toward him, looked him squarely in the eye, and stated, “I won’t let you be denied.” Sarah thought of musical lyrics from her favorite band, Muse. It seemed so fitting for this moment.

He had her, physically and emotionally. He owned all of it in just this short time. She had given in to every physical impulse she had. Love had fucking nothing to do with it! She just gave into primal lust and felt animalistic in his presence. It would not take long before even Nathaniel may not satisfy all her desires.

Fuck, she repeated in her mind over and over in total disbelief at their combined power.
