Year in a Review by Jo-Anna Walker

This year has been such a fantastic ride for every Twinsie. One of us had a baby, one of us became an author and our Twinsie family grew and grew. When Angie SJ and Angie WE asked me to join their review blog, I instantly jumped on the chance to be a part of it and then we got so big, we needed 3 more reviewers. How amazing is that? Because of all of you, we're where we are today. So for that, thank you! To each and every one of you. You all rock our socks!

Back in May of this year, I was lucky enough to meet Angie SJ and Melinda in PERSON! It was like we hung out every constantly.

I talk to these girls every single day. I love our little tightnip family and because of them, I am where I am today as a person and as an author. Thank you my Twinsie sisters!! xx

***

Here are my top 10 favorite books for the last half of 2013! Do you know how hard it was to just choose 10? So here it goes.

1. I have to say that my favorite serial novel of all time is the Phoenix series by Michelle Stevens/Red Phoenix. They are just heartfelt, uplifting, heartbreaking...amazing stories all around.

2. Now number 2. This is a given since this series has my #1 book boyfriend in it. Gideon Cross. Swoon. Even the name gives me shivers. Entwined with You by Sylvia Day is one of the hottest books I have ever read!

3. Walking Disaster cause hello? It has Travis Maddox in it! #2 book boyfriend on my list of many BBF's!

4. I added these two books to my list back in the earlier months but I have to add them again. Desert Rice and Desert Flower brought me into a world I had never experienced before. It made me feel things while reading I've never felt and it made me message the author and rant and rave about how much I absolutely loved these books!!

5. Hers by Dawn Roberston. I read the blurb and was blown away! I read the book and fell in love! If you like hot, dirty, raw, real type books then this one is for you.

6. This book by far is the funniest I have ever read. I laughed so hard, I cried. Read this one for naughty dirty humor. Every time I think of it, I bust out laughing. So not cool when you're by yourself in public.

7. Okay so Angie J and Melinda and I'm not sure if any of the other twinsie's read this book but love the books by Kendall Grey. So I finally dove in and bought Strings in paperback signed and ebook. Strings by Kendall Grey is probably the dirtiest, most raw, gritty, in your face book I have ever read and I love it.

8. I've read almost 90 books this year but now that I have to choose my top ten, I can't seem to remember what I've read. Bullet was recommended to me by Angie J and I fell instantly in love. It's a long one but it's filled with so much stuff, it couldn't be written any shorter. I loved it.

9. Now I'd have to say that if you love Red Phoenix's Brie series, then you'll love the A Week with my Romanian series by Steffie Dawn. Meeting My Master (A week with my Romanian #1) has made my top ten list because it allowed me to meet a wonderful person, a wonderful author and a wonderful friend. The books are hot!

10. Epilogue by CJ Roberts...look at the cover. Need I say more?

So those are my top ten for 2013. Each book has affected me in someway or another. I can't wait for 2014 and for the awesomeness that these authors will bring us. Thank you all for your hard work and keep up the writing!! xx

Excerpt

I threw my leg over my bike and started for her. The streetlight out front was busted, causing the place to be darker than normal. There was just enough light that as I walked behind her, I could see her sexy little ass encased in those prissy jeans she always wore. I caught up to her at the bottom of the stairs and reached out to grab her arm before she made it any further. Next thing I knew, Teen spun, her fist flying right into my nose; at the same time, she drove her knee up into my groin, dropping me like a sack of shit to the ground.

“F*ckkkkkkkk” I moaned, cupping my junk, rolling up onto my knees, and trying to get my breath back. Pain shot up into my stomach with each attempt.

“Oh, it’s just you.” Teeny breathed hard. I looked up at her through narrowed eyes.

“Oh, it’s just…F*ck, Princess. What the hell’d you do that for?” I wheezed.

“Well, you deserved it. You don’t sneak up behind a chick and expect not to get hit. Now, get up, dipshit. You’re making a scene,” she hissed, looking around the complex.

Trouble with the Law Promo Tour Kick Off and Giveaway by Becky McGraw

New Blurb:

Criminal defense attorney Veronica Winters always wondered what it would be like with sexy former detective Trace Rooks. Even though he’s an ex-convict now, because of her, she still wonders. Ronnie has always felt damned guilty for recommending a plea deal that sent an innocent man to jail. When she finds out he’s back in jail and a friend asks her to question him about the situation, Ronnie thinks she might finally have the opportunity to set things right with him.

At the jail though, she finds a changed man she almost doesn’t recognize. The scars on the outside are nothing compared to the scars he bears inside. Instead of the charming, easy going man she represented four years prior, his attitude now is as hard as his body. But she finds out the new, edgier Trace Rooks turns her on even more than the man she knew before.
Trace Rooks, would love nothing better than seeing the Shark Lady get her due for sending him to prison unjustly. He would make sure Ronnie Winters eventually got hers, but at the moment, he had other priorities. Like taking down his corrupt father. The man who had paid off the woman touted to be the best criminal defense attorney in the state to help send him to prison.

When Ronnie shows up at the jail asking questions, Trace isn't giving her anything except a hard time. He believes she's there on his father's behalf again, and there is no way in hell he is falling for her lines again. Trace was a man that learned for his mistakes, and trusting Ronnie Winters had been the biggest of his life.

But when Ronnie doesn't get the answers she wants from him, she starts digging around on her own. Trace knows that can get him killed or sent back to prison again. He decides that the best thing he can do is heed his grandfather's advice to keep his friends close and his enemies closer. He isn't sure which camp Ronnie Winters falls into yet, but he's going to keep her close until he figures it out.

Maybe he could get the answers he'd been looking for the last three years. If not, he could at least get his pound of flesh from the mouthy, leggy redhead every man in Texas was afraid of. Trace wasn't afraid of Ronnie Winters, but he quickly finds out he isn't immune to her either. When that leads to thinking he might just have misjudged the beautiful redhead before, and perhaps there was more to her than met the eye, Trace knows he's in deep trouble.

DIRTY EXCERPT:

"You want answers, Veronica?" Trace ground out, his eyes hard and dark.  His arm shot across the table, and she flinched.  He laughed and grabbed her pen then leaned back and dropped it under the table.  Lowering his voice, he leaned forward again to growl, "Let me tell you what I want, then you decide if you still want those answers.” He drummed his fingers on the table.

Tingles of alarm coursed through Veronica traveling with the excitement already buzzing along her nerve endings.  Something wasn't right here.  Trace Rooks wasn't right.  Three years in prison had warped him, changed him into a man she didn't know. One who scared her a little.  And that was saying a lot.  Because men didn't scare her—ever.  She was the one who scared them.

Veronica stiffened her shoulders, and her spine to sit up straighter in her chair.  She was The Shark Lady, the best damned criminal lawyer in Amarillo, and he better damn well remember who he was talking to.

Trace shoved his chair up under the table, and the sound grated through her.  He slouched in the chair, and drummed his fingers on the table again.  "What I want, Red, is for you to get under that table, and pick up that pen," he drawled, his eyes glittering with purpose.  The scar on his cheek deepened when his mouth twisted into a travesty of a smile.  "While you're under there, I want you to unzip my pants and suck my dick.  If you do a good enough job of it, I'll give you your answers."

Ronnie snorted, and leaned back in her chair crossing her arms over her chest.  "Dream on, big boy."

He was out of his mind if he thought she was going to do that.  Her eyes involuntarily traveled to the camera mounted in the corner.  Not that the camera mattered, there was no way she was going to do what he wanted even if there wasn't a camera.  But the thought of it made her wet.  The possibility of getting caught, the probability of getting away with something so daring.

"I'm not dreaming," he said smoothly.  "You're the one who came here to get answers from me.  That's the only way you're going to get them, Veronica.  I haven't had sex in three years because of you.  You owe it to me.  Bet mine doesn't taste any different than Leland's did."

Three years? Trace Rooks had only served two years, and had been out of prison for six months.  Before he went to prison, Trace Rooks didn't have trouble finding a willing woman.  She couldn’t believe getting laid wasn’t near the top of his priority list when he got out of prison.  While she worked on his case, Veronica knew of at least two women he was with when he was out of jail pending court hearings.  One of them had even been in the courtroom, bawling hysterically when he was sentenced.

Either one of those women would probably do just what he asked.  Veronica wasn't those women.  And she absolutely was notgetting under that table to suck Trace Rooks off.

His eyes narrowed and a smug smile kicked up the corner of his firm mouth.  "You asked me back then why Leland wanted me in jail.  What if I told you?" he asked with a lifted brow.  "Would you suck my dick for that information? How far would you go, Veronica? Would you swallow when I come in your mouth too?" Trace sucked a breath in through his teeth and moved one of his hands under the table.  "God, I'm hard just thinking about it."

Her eyes focused on his mouth.  Firm, full lips that spewed his venom, issued his dirty challenges.  "Stop being vulgar, Trace. You're just trying to shock me.  Just talk to me.  I'm trying to help you here."

"Help me, help you.  Isn't that what you told me when you said I should accept that bogus plea deal, Red?"

"I was trying to help.  Taking that deal was in your best interest," she said leaning back in her chair again.  She glanced under the table and the pen taunted her.

Trace laughed harshly.  "You helped me right into three years in prison.  Now I'm going to help you get your answers, right after you give me a blow job."

She snorted, and lifted a brow.  "Keep screwing with me and I'll get under that table and bite your dick off," she threatened.

He leaned forward on his elbows, and met her eyes directly.  "You bite me and when I get out, I'll tie you up and spank your ass until you beg me to fuck you." Trace wasn't kidding.  His dark eyes were focused on her, and he didn't blink, not once.  A dull throb started at the apex of her thighs, and she uncrossed her legs to press her knees together.

This was ridiculous.  Ronnie didn't like kinky sex, had never had a partner who was into it either.  Why was she getting so turned on then by his naughty suggestions?

She shook her head to clear it.  This wasn’t getting her anywhere.  She also realized she wasn't getting anywhere with Trace Rooks, and considering his mood, she wasn't going to.  Veronica scraped her chair back, then reached down for her briefcase.

The black pen near his foot taunted her again.  He used the toe of his boot to slowly shove it to one side, then the other, and she felt his gaze hot on the side of her face.  Back and forth, he moved it, teasing her.  But he said nothing.

There was no way she could leave that pen there.  It was a very expensive Mont Blanc.  A pen she had been given by her attorney father when she graduated from law school.  A memoir of the only time in her life he'd ever told her he was proud of her.  So what if he'd only said it on the card that came with the pen, and he was a thousand miles away in Northern California handling a big case at the time.  He had finally said it.

"Do it, Red," Trace urged in a low growl, as he edged the pen with his toe again.  She dropped to her knees beside her briefcase and crawled under the table.  She saw Trace's hand resting on his crotch.  He stroked himself, and she saw the hard ridge of his large penis outlined under his jeans.  Her mouth watered, as she contemplated doing what he asked.

She had always been curious what the big draw was with him.  Why women were always after him.  Policewomen and attorneys alike, even the female criminals fell prey to his charms.  Hell, she'd even heard he'd done a judge and a female senator, while he was a detective.  He must be one hell of a lover is all she could come up with.  Curiosity about him is what had her so hot and bothered when she was representing him.

Trace unzipped his jeans, and she saw his thick erection straining at the top of his tight white underwear.  She bit back a groan, as her hand closed around the ink pen.  His foot landed on top of her hand to trap it.

"You know you want to do it, Veronica.  You've wanted to do it for years.  Since you first met me," he suggested softly.  "Now's your chance, Red.  To get your answers and satisfy your curiosity." His sexy, tempting voice sent a chill down her spine.

Angie J's Review"

I won this book from the author so I am giving it an honest review.

Before you even read this review, if you are not a menage reader then walk away!!!  This is a uber hot menage with alot of angst...sooooo be warned!!

Sooo the book starts out with instant chemistry with Syble and Chad...so instant that they "have fun" in the back of the library.  Chad flips when she says she is married but refuses to let her go.  He hasn't had this type of connection with a woman EVER and will not give her up.    I will say I am not a FAN of cheating is stories and it was a little hard to get past that point BUT the story and the intimacy the characters have is essential to the story line.  You have to "feel" what they feel for one another to be "ok" with what happened?  Does that make any sense to you????  I know, I know......I ramble but whatevs!!  My blog so I can :)

Syble doesn't feel bad at all about cheating on her husband with the hot soccer assistant coach.  She still is supporting her husband through a long distance relationship.  She just doesn't think but the "thing" with Chad wont go away.  Needless to say she is stunned silly when Chad barges in on her in her house and proceeds to basically beg to see her again......oh youth :)  I found it kinda of refreshing to see a MAN throwing himself at the older woman because it is usually the other way around.  When he is talking about "making love" and she looks at him like he is nuts...hello just met like 2 hours ago........

The enter the saddened and unhappy hubby.  To finds out your wife is cougaring it up with the town stud doesnt go over too well with him...would it with you???  Again, I think the author did a great job letting you into the "head" (snickers) of the characters to see what they are feeling and what they are thinking.  i will say i was laughing and giggling at the SCENE when it alll comes out and everyone knows everything.....very very funny.......

Anyway, if you are looking for a good read, you like menage and dont mind the cheating aspect then this book is a great read for you.

I am looking forward to reading another book by this author very soon!!

Goodreads Shelf

Angie J's Review;

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

HOLY MOLY IS THIS BOOK HOT!!!  Ok sooo I kinda needed to get that off my chest before I started this review.  Yeah Ivan (my Favorite Russian up til now) was hot but Dimitri put him to SHAME!!  Yes I am still an Ivan girl but I wouldnt kick D outta bed either.

SO this is a really sweet story of  2 people who have longed for the other for 5 years.  They have been friendly but always thinking they were invisible to the other one.  A chance of a life time and Dimitri has Benny up to his apartment and BOOM the sparks ignite.  I loved how alpha he is but also so willing to understand where Benny is coming from.  he is going to do anything to make sure that her stupid gang banger brother's stupid mistakes wont hurt/touch her.

The two face a lot of drama with the DB who is trying to strong arm her into selling her building.  The brother and his stupid gang choices and Benny learning to trust and allow someone to make decisions for her out of smarts and not emotion!!  I have to say,  I loved Benny and her character.  She is smart but just got the short end of the family stick with everything she has to balance.

I loved seeing the other guys getting their book set ups in place for their stories.  I am really intrigued by Nikolai that most I will admit.  BUUUT  Yuri and Lena will defo have a spicey story with all their previous history!!!

Basically, If you like hot alpha men, these are great stories to read!!  I cant wait to start Yuri's book right now!!

Short Excerpt Trust Me?

I turn to face him; he puts his other arm around me. We are in the same position as before when the last kiss attempt failed. My arms are tight around his neck, his arms around my waist. I look down. He lifts up my chin so I’m lost in his gaze. His hand goes back to my waist. He swallows; I think he’s as nervous as I am. He tilts his head and leans in … I back away quickly.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, looking hurt.
“Oh, no, it’s not you. I think … I might have garlic breath.”
He laughs and pulls me back to him. “So do I.” He pulls me in tighter, and before I know what’s happening, his lips are on mine. I give in and surrender to him completely.
This feels like one of my fantasies, only way, way better. He holds me tight as one hand moves from my waist to caress my cheek, kissing me softly but sensually. My hands move to the back of his head, and I grab a lock of hair in each hand. He moves our bodies so that I’m against the railing at the edge of the deck. He moves his hand from my waist to hold the rail as I still grasp his hair. The kissing becomes feverishly passionate; his tongue against mine as they intertwine with each other. Our breathing becomes faster and erratic. Our kissing becomes more intimate. We are in perfect sync with each other. I pull him closer to me, our whole bodies touching. My heart is pounding fast and hard. His hand moves from my face to the back of my head, pulling me tight. He moves my hair from the side of my neck, breaks our kiss and kisses my neck slowly and seductively. I sigh and breathe in a stuttering motion. I open my eyes to see the waitress standing there, gawking at us. I stiffen as I see her. He pulls back and looks at me. With my eyes, I gesture toward the waitress. He turns, looks, and lets out a little huff. He leans in towards me.
“Now that’s a first kiss,” he whispers as he grabs my hand and leads me over to the table. I can’t help but smile.

Short Excerpt Love Me?

My nerves start to get the better of me, I start to feel nauseous; those darn pesky butterflies attack again. I’m not sure why I’m nervous, whether it’s the shoes making me unstable or whether it’s the memory of our first date, our first touch, or our first kiss that’s making me bashful.
I turn the corner to see him standing there with a bunch of red roses, in the suit that he changed into earlier, this time with a baby pink tie on. Behind him is that gorgeous waterfall cascading down the cliff with the lush greenery surrounding us. As I take a step closer, I hear music playing. “Thank You for Loving Me” by Bon Jovi. It’s our song. I feel my eyes welling up as all the emotion and love I feel for this man is becoming too much to bear.
His smile is beaming from ear to ear when I approach. Finally I reach him. He holds out his hand for me to take. I take it, and he pulls me into a tight embrace.
       “This is perfect,” I whisper.
“Perfection for perfection, my love.” He kisses my cheek, and places the bouquet of flowers on the railing.

All of Me? (The Trust Me Trilogy, #3)

Jenifer Taylor thought she was content with her life, being absent from the dating scene due to her major trust issues with men.
