Promo Post/Author Spotlighting for Out of Hiding by Mia Kerick

Synopsis:
After graduating from high school early, twenty-year-old Philippe Bergeron spent the past several years lost among the stars while fishing off the New England coast. A shoulder injury ends his dream of living reclusively on the water, and he finds himself lost among the bright lights of New York City. His older brother, Henri, has asked Philippe to chaperone his seventeen-year-old niece, Sophie, on her tours of the city's legendary dance programs.
Sophie meets with professional dancer and choreographer, Dario Pereira, to prepare a routine for her college auditions. Dario’s cool perfection and immaculate style contrast with Philippe’s awkward scruffiness, but it wakes desires Philippe thought he’d left behind. When the attraction is surprisingly returned, Dario’s confidence won’t let Philippe remain invisible. Unsure but curious, Philippe relaxes his rule of isolation, and as the summer progresses, his relationship with Dario leads him to a surprising discovery of his submissive sexual tendencies and a greater sense of self-awareness.
Tragedy threatens to destroy the connections Philippe has made and forces him to retreat into the shadows of his past, far from the radiance of Dario’s love. Ultimately, he must decide if it is time to stop hiding and set himself free.

Excerpt:
“We had not intended to exile you from the studio, Philippe, but Sophie wanted the first part of her solo to be a surprise to you. We couldn’t very well surprise you if you watched us put it together, could we?” Dario led me back into the studio. I’d been walking around the Upper West Side for the better part of two hours, which I didn’t mind in the least—I was just a single grain of sand on the beach, here in this city.
I didn’t say anything as I headed toward my usual corner, but Dario stopped me. His wiry arm thrust out across my middle. “Sit up here, instead.” He grabbed me by the arm and led me to the front of the studio, and then he pushed me down to sit on the floor with my back against the mirror. Dario had no trouble being pushy.
Sophie took her starting position, and Dario moved to the corner where he started the music, an eccentric blend of bells and chimes and piano. And my niece began to move. The piece seemed to be rooted in ballet, which was clearly Sophie’s strongest suit, but Dario had woven into the piece many of the movements she had learned in the different modern and contemporary classes she’d taken since we’d come to the city. I guess he’d been paying attention when she’d demonstrated the different steps she’d learned in classes each day.
My overall impression of the piece—it was stunning—she was stunning.
Her body, longer and leaner and stronger than I’d ever before noticed, seemed to own the music. No, it was really much more as if her body was creating the music with its movements. She leaned and stretched, her back flat at first and then it gradually curved, and when she leaped, with her feet flexed and her hands posed like claws, I felt goose bumps climb up the skin on my arms.
And Sophie’s face reminded me of what I could remember of my mother’s. Proud and brave, and, at moments, even tough, but at the very same time, so fragile. But at the moment, she was looking over at me wearing an inquisitive expression, trying to gauge my reaction to the first thirty seconds of her solo. All I could think, though, was that she was everything I remembered my mother being.
“Phil, do you like it?” Her open expression shifted into being one of concern—and it was all Sophie I was seeing again. “Is it okay?”
But my eyes had filled up, and I fought to keep my tears inside. Images of my mother always brought me to this state. I looked to Dario, who now leaned against the far wall, and I saw that he was equally affected by her performance, or maybe it was by my reaction to it. Our damp eyes kind of collided—for a moment it was like we were of one mind—until he nodded a bit in Sophie’s direction, to remind me to answer her.
“Was it okay? Oh… oh, shit, yes.” I rarely cursed; my mother hadn’t approved of foul language. And then I was somehow up on my feet, looking across the room into her pale blue eyes. “It was… it was amazing, Sophie… I had no idea….” And then I was right beside her. “That dance was beautiful, Soph… you were beautiful.”
She blushed, pleased and proud. We quickly looked away from each other, though, uncomfortable with the emotion that charged the air between us.
“Well, I guess it’s time to call it a night, then.” Dario let us off the emotional hook we’d been caught on. He picked up his bag and his water bottle.

About the Author:
Mia Kerick is the mother of four exceptional children—all named after saints—and five nonpedigreed cats—all named after the next best thing to saints, Boston Red Sox players. Her husband of twenty years has been told by many that he has the patience of Job, but don’t ask Mia about that, as it is a sensitive subject.
Mia focuses her stories on the emotional growth of troubled men and their relationships, and she believes that sex has a place in a love story, but not until it is firmly established as a love story. As a teen, Mia filled spiral-bound notebooks with romantic tales of tortured heroes (most of whom happened to strongly resemble lead vocalists of 1980s big-hair bands) and stuffed them under her mattress for safekeeping. She is thankful to Dreamspinner Press for providing her with an alternate place to stash her stories.
Mia is proud of her involvement with the Human Rights Campaign and cheers for each and every victory made in the name of marital equality. Her only major regret: never having taken typing or computer class in school, destining her to a life consumed with two-fingered pecking and constant prayer to the Gods of Technology.
My themes I always write about:
Sweetness. Unconventional love, tortured/damaged heroes- only love can save them.

SYNOPSIS:
Please note: this is not dark romance.
I am not a good man.
I have lied and cheated and stolen. I've decided between life or death, like it was
my due. None of it matters, not anymore. These are not my sins.
I see her raise her hands, the dark metal she's clutching reflecting the moonlight.
Her finger trembles as she cocks the gun pointed at me. Her eyes are cold,
determined, but I know.
I know her.
My name is Devon Andre and I confess my sin. I am not a good man because this is
the woman I love.
She pulls the trigger.
* Standalone contemporary romance.
* Mature reader advised due to sexual content and strong language.

~~Excerpt #3~~

His mouth slides down my throat, his warm breath tickling the sensitive skin
of my neck, and a shiver runs through my body. That’s all it takes from him;
he has such an effect on me, always has. Holding me tight against his body,
he talks into my ear.
“I couldn't get you out of my fucking mind. Every living thought I had was
stained by you, out there in the darkness, my hands all over your body, your
fingers running through my hair, your moans and sighs. I fucking hate you
for being my weakness.”
His mouth finds mine, and he bites on my lip, punishing me. “I needed to get
you out of my head, out of my heart, out of my soul. You owned me, and I
wanted myself back.” His hand tangles in my hair, and he pulls it back
harshly, exposing my neck. “I just want myself back,” he ends on a whisper,
and then his teeth skim my neck, making my breath hitch.
He trails his mouth up over my throat, his hand making its own way down my
stomach, where he finds the button of my jeans and pops it open. He kisses
along my jaw as he slides the zipper down, and reaches his hand into my
panties. I gasp as his fingers slowly inch down and he slides first one, then
two, and starts to explore, thrusting them in and out in a delicious rhythm.
He pulls my head back gently and kisses my lips. His hand travels down the
side of my face, over my collarbone, between my breasts and down to my
stomach, finding its way under my shirt, cupping my breast. I moan as he
rubs my clit with his thumb, making me quiver with his probing fingers, and
his tongue delves into my mouth, stopping only to bite on my lips. I can feel
his arousal pressing into my side, and it turns me on even more knowing that
I have this effect on him. I hide my face in his neck, biting gently as the first
wave of pleasure hits me. My thighs start shaking and Devon wraps his arm
around my back to hold me up. I tear my mouth away from his neck and arch
my back into the wall behind me, cursing as the pleasure starts to take over
my body.
“Leighton,” Devon growls. I open my eyes and look into his as I ride the
climax, his heavy-lidded, burning gaze making me lose myself even more.

Angie J's Review:

I received this book for an honest review from the author.

Wow....Ok So I am really confused as to what to say about this book......first of all I was super excited to read this novel when I saw the teasers and read the book blurb. I was captivated and was stoked to go on the tour for the book.  I was waiting and waiting and waiting for my copy.  They day it came in my email I went through the roof.....I cracked open the book and began my journey.......

I will say I was very confused at the begining of the story.  Devon and Leighton both are part of mafia families...gotchya.  Their families hate each other...gotchya.  Devon kidnaps this person he doesnt know because she spied him working with one of her family members...gotchya.  But then I had a hard time with the story.  Leighton is throwing herself at this man who kidnapped her and he is dying to sleep with this enemy of the family.  I was really getting annoyed with the back and forth, will they or wont then and then a twist is dropped on you at 53%.  I was even MORE confused with their relationship.  I was scratching my head like "why didnt we know this before?  I would understand whats going on way better."   So again I am re-adjusting to the new dynamic and then they throw a love triangle in the mix with Devons best friend/ex girlfriend and I was like "HUH??"  So I am really kinda confused and was actually thinking about giving up the story.  I just wasnt feeling it.  BUT I am not a quitter so I keep going.  I will say at 83%...yes 83% I finally LIKED the story and was loving the twists.  But I was kinda sad that it took 83% for me to say "YES!!!"  The new dynamic was actually a really good twist and I loved where the story went from there.  Mafia and deception is sooooooo awesome.

So Did I like the story, not initially but stick with it because I did find the ending twist pretty good and I was actually glad that I stuck with the story.

Cover Reveal of Uncomplicated by Dawn Robertson and Jo-Anna Walker PLUS EXCLUSIVE Author Interview

Blurb:

Three days a week I work your everyday nine-to-five. The paperwork is never-ending. The pay is mediocre, and the office drama is simply intolerable. But the other four days a week, I am my own boss.

My name is Jennifer Sunshine and I am a Vegas Call Girl.
My clients range from frat boys on spring break to multimillionaire business men with stuffy wives and less than ideal equipment.

I don’t have a daddy-complex or some kind of sob story.
I don’t need the money, but it is nice.
The only thing I crave is the exhilarating feeling I get from being in control of something. Anything.

My life is uncomplicated, simple even.
That was until he bulldozed his way into my life, and everything changed.
Overnight he makes me realize how much I truly need him.

About Jo-Anna Walker:

I'm a new self-published author who just got introduced to the writing world early 2013. My aunt suggested that I write a story because I'm an avid reader but I waved it off and left it alone. Well this year, a story came to me and I went with it. It took me a little bit but I finally got a story idea that worked and now I can't stop or control the characters/stories that keep popping up in my head.

I'm born and raised in Canada and I live with my very wonderful and supportive husband, Michael. We don't have any children (yet) unless you count our cat. My hubby been my rock through this whole new experience for me. I couldn't have done it without him and my friends and family.

One of the many things I love about this new chapter in my life is that I'm learning constantly. It's never a dull moment and as long as one person likes my story, I am happy.

She loves to hear from her fans, readers, and authors alike. Feel free to drop her a message.

Dawn rarely takes life seriously, so be sure to expect heavy sarcasm from her. She is also the life of the party, so be sure to meet up with her at one of the many author events she will be attending in the next couple months. Buy her a shot of whiskey, and she will love you for life.

Interview:

Hello Lovely ladies!!!  Well I am super excited to sit and chillax with you both.  I abso LOOOOVE your work and want to get more peps interested in ya.  So I have some fun and “SERIOUS” questions for ya.  Are you ready?  Here we go…….

1.    What author would you want to sit and have a pick your brain session with?  They can be dead or alive and why?  Like how I made that a multiple?   *Snickers at the thought of multiples when these ladies are writing*

JW: Well FS, I know you know the answer to this question but for those that don’t, I would love to sit down with JR Ward. For one, she’s freaking hilarious and two, all of those hot alpha men inside her head? What person in their right mind wouldn’t want to sit down with her?? LOL!

DR: Well, Colleen Hoover would probably be one. Her books are like giant ninja mindfucks. As soon as you THINK you know where the book is going to go, BAM! She karate chop's your brain and sends you into a tail spin. I guess the same could be said for Molly McAdams. She would be another.

2.    Are you a panter or plotter when writing your stories AND since you are both writing this book together, how has it changed your process?

JW: Definitely a pantster. Luckily both Dawn and I are so that helps. Lol!
Working with Dawn has been an amazing experience. You should read our brainstorming notes. They are quite entertaining. Haha.
We bounce off of each other and throw ideas and for most of the time, we have agreed with each other. Dawn is so amazing to work with and I’ve learned a ton from her.

DR: I just write. I don't think about it. I just let the story flow. I always start with a general idea, and then just see where the characters themselves take it. Honestly, I have LOVED writing alongside Jo-Anna because when I think the book is going in a certain way, I get her chapter back and I am like... WOW! That is PERFECT!
It has been a learning experience, but an absolutely amazing creative writing exercise.
We will toss ideas, and timelines around. But nothing more.

3.    What authors do you read when you find the time to sit and read?

JW: Anyone. Honest. I don’t have a preference. But if you want me to list off some names, here I go. JR Ward, Sylvia Day, Katy Evans…so on and so on. If my Twinsie Girls love it, then I’ll definitely read it as well. You ladies have never steered me wrong yet.

DR: I read everything that is within the romance genre. I mean, for me the more sex the better but I don't need books that are complete smut. Recently I read an awesome book, Dear Emily by Trudy Stiles and love it. It was nothing I would have typically read, but I was so glad I picked it up!
I also love the hell out of Madeline Sheehan. I would have her babies. The offer is out there... You hear that Madeline

4.    If you could have written ANY book in the world, whether popular or not, what book would you have written? ANND Why?

JW: That is a difficult question. I don’t know if I would want to have written any book but pick the author’s brain and find out how they came up with the idea. If I had to choose though, I love the Real series by Katy Evans. Only have read Real so far but I’m in love already. There’s just something about the story that draws me and a million others in. I’d like to pick her brain and find out how she came up with that perfect male in our land of Book Boyfriends. J

DR: Oh gosh... I am a closet Narnia geek, and a huge C.S. Lewis fan, so probably that entire series.

Ok the lighting round questions, here we go……

1.    Favorite color?
JW: Well thanx to Mathis and Brett, I’ve been obsessed with the colour red. Lol!
DR: Bright Green

2.    Favorite snack food?
JW: Chocolate chip cookies baby!!!
DR: Cheesy Poofs

3.    Favorite drink (alcoholic or non)?
JW: Alcoholic drink: beer (any kind)
Nonalcoholic drink: coffee and water
DR: Sweet tea (Y'ALL!)

4.    Favorite Actor/Actress?
JW: Actor: Mark Wahlberg
Actress: Don’t have one specific favorite but I love Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron…Hilary Swank is an amazing actress as well. Sandra Bullock and Jessica Alba are super funny. See? Can’t name just one. Lol!
DR: Justin Timberlake & Jennifer Lawrence

5.    Favorite MUST HAVE item?
JW: Lip gloss. I can NOT go anywhere without them. I say “them” because no matter how many I have, I bring them ALL with me. Options baby.

DR: MY iPHONE!  I cannot live without it. I actually should have it surgically implanted into my hand.

Don't Let Go - by Michelle Lynn

Don't Let Go (The Invisibles, #1)

 Book Blurb:
Sadie Miller is attempting to change her ways and hide somewhere no one knows her former self. She only wants to finish her final year of college, obtain her degree, and get out from the hold of her affluent parents. Then she meets Brady Carsen, the lead singer of The Invisibles, a popular local band in the college town. She tries to stay away but quickly realizes that, although he might not be what she’s used to, he’s exactly what she needs and more importantly, everything she could possibly want.

Unfortunately, Sadie’s troubled past left her with insecurities that make her question Brady’s true intentions. And while Brady is convinced that Sadie is the one for him, he has his own secrets that he fears will be their undoing. If they want to be together, they will have to stand united and fight the outside influences that are threatening to tear them apart. Can they put their pasts behind them for good in order to secure their future?

Melinda's Review:

I purchased the box set and oh so glad I did because I needed more.  This is about Brady and Sadie who both have skeletons in their closets.  What I love about this book is that we are let in on the secrets a little at a time.  We know they have secrets and skeletons but not 100% on what they are.  It was kind of like sneaking around a corner you know something is going to be there you’re just not sure what it is going to be then bam there it is in your face.

Sadie transferred to Western her senior year.  Her roommate, Jessa, drags her to a party where she runs into Brady.  Brady tries to convince her to stay but she bolts.  He is determined to make her his but she is not so sure.  With everything that has happened in her past she has a hard time letting anyone.  I love how patient he is with her and how he fights for the both of them.

I like how she takes Rob head on when she has had enough.  I love how he tells her how he plans on things going the first time they are “together”.  I also love what Brady does for Sadie on her birthday, their first “real” date, the trip to the farmers market meeting Mrs. Fletcher, who can forget the surprise trip, and then when we meet Sadie’s parents and Grandma Ida. I absolutely loved her Grandma Ida.  I’m not a big fan of her parents or Kara by the way.  When Brady’s secrets are exposed he tries to push Sadie away but in true Sadie fashion she is not having any part of what Brady wants.

There were so may ups, downs, and twist I had a few lumps in my throat at times.  I do have to say I cannot wait to start reading Let Me In I just have to know how the next one goes.

Here are a few of my favorites:
“I won’t give up. If you’re not going to fight for this…I’ll do it for the both of us.” ~Brady

Either he is oblivious to women checking him out, or he has the courtesy not to look when he is on a date because the waitress is young and attractive. ~Sadie

“It was perfect, Brady. I wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate my birthday any other way,”~Sadie

“I still want you in my bed tonight. I want to wrap my arms around you, hold you close to my chest, and feel your heartbeat against mine.” ~Brady

About the Author:
Michelle Lynn has always been a reader, but her passion has become a full-blown addiction since her husband bought her a Kindle for Mother's Day. She's pretty sure that he regrets this on a regular basis. Especially when she has it propped up next to the stove while she cooks, which often results in a burnt dinner. Or when he loses sleep because the glow from the screen wakes him up when he rolls over at three in the morning. He does agree, however, that she uses this gift more than any other he has ever gotten her. She joking counters that, because of some of the steamy novels she reads, he also benefits more from this gift than any other he has gotten her. ;)

Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.
